Cello Tutor
The Role
Tanglin Trust School is seeking to appoint a Cello Tutor to contribute to our dynamic and world-class music programme. The successful applicant will inspire and develop students’ musical skills on cello through individual and ensemble tuition, supporting both personal growth and performance excellence. The tutor will work closely with the Director of Music and Head of Strings to ensure lessons, rehearsals, and performances provide an environment in which all students can achieve their personal best.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual and group tuition for cello students across all age groups.
- Contribute to the development of students’ technical skills, musicianship, and performance confidence.
- Support ensembles, including orchestras and smaller chamber groups, as required.
- Collaborate with other music staff on curriculum planning, lesson programming, and performance preparation.
- Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with parents regarding development.
- Promote a positive and inspiring learning environment, balancing personal growth with musical excellence.
- Participate in departmental meetings, workshops, school events, and the Year 3 Strings Programme held during one of the school terms.
Personal Attributes
- Professional experience teaching violin, preferably in a school or youth music setting.
- Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and develop students of varying abilities.
- Strong understanding of ensemble performance and collaborative musicianship.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Personal integrity, initiative, and ability to manage responsibilities independently.
- Enthusiasm for fostering a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Commitment to personal wellbeing and supporting the wellbeing of students and colleagues

The number of hours will depend on student enrolment and ensemble schedules.
